With the growing population in the world, the need of housing has been a paramount concern for the governments. With less land available, deforestation has to take place for land to be available. State your clear opinion about this issue.
There is no denying the fact that population is mushrooming at an alarming rate. In order to accommodate this huge population, the land available in countryside area is cleared. No doubt, it is beneficial for the human beings but at the same time, it is effecting the entire eco-system.
To embark upon, at the time when forests are cleared, the soil comes in direct contact with the sun which makes it dry and less fertile resulting in loss of important nutrients such as nitrogen. Moreover, when there is rainfall, it washes away the rest of the nutrients. As a result, the cultivation on this type of land will become difficult and the land will become useless. Huge area of land will be rendered permanently impoverished due to soil erosion.
Furthermore, the clearing of forests result in the loss of bio-diversity. Though, tropical land forests just make up the 6% of the surface area of the earth, there are many species that exist there. Due to massive falling of trees, many species will be lost resulting in extinction of many animals and plants. This practice does not only harm the wildlife but also the entire food chain.
This is to be concluded that it is important to provide residence to each and every person but at the same time forests are also important for the smooth functioning of life on the earth. Thus, government should think of the alternatives.
