IELTS ESSAY TOPIC-03

Every country has poor people and every country has different ways of dealing with the poor.  What are some of the reasons for world poverty? How can the poor be helped?

The wealth gap in many countries is increasing, and the number of poor people in the world is rising at an alarming rate. This trend has been mainly brought about by  corrupt administration in developing countries and an imbalanced wealth distribution. However, there are many feasible ways through which poor people can be uplifted.

One of the reasons of world poverty is unequal distribution of funds. Globally, it can be witnessed that rich is becoming richer and poor people are in dire need of support. As wealthy people have the required resources, they multiply their wealth by reinvesting money. Whereas poor people are generally uneducated and are always striving to make ends meet, they remain poor throughout their lives. Another area of concern is corrupt government in developing nations. Although they are working towards financially supporting the needy, sometimes the local authorities do not effectively distribute government aids. They generally keep a large share to themselves. For example, in India under government employment schemes, labourers receive only one third of the declared money. Corruption, therefore, cripples poor people.

However, there are many possible ways to provide remedy to the situation. Firstly, education is the most effective way to bring people out of poverty. Steps must be taken to provide education in every part of the country. If poor people are educated, they will become employable. As a result, they can work their ways out of poverty. Secondly, strict measures should be taken to curb corruption at a global level. A global association should be formed to oversee corruption affecting poor people in developing countries. This association must put hefty fines on the governments which are unable to evenly distribute the financial aids assigned for the poor people.

To conclude, the issue of global poverty stems from wealth imbalance and corrupt governments in developing and underdeveloped countries. Only when the poor people are provided with education and steps are taken to reform corrupt governments can this situation be diminished.
