IELTS ESSAY TOPIC-18

Rich countries often give money to poorer countries, but it does not solve poverty. Therefore, developed countries should give other types of help to the poor countries rather than financial aid.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Each one of us is familiar with the fact that there are some countries which are still facing dire situation as poverty. Many rich and developed countries have reached out to these countries for financial aid. However, in my opinion, just giving out money is no remedy to their poverty.

Although, I get the general idea that these diplomatic countries believe that with the financial help these poverty stricken countries can develop healthcare, education and employment to some extent which can further lead their country out of the danger of following dire consequences like malnutrition, illiteracy and inadequate medicine.

In contrast, I would say financial aid does not fulfill the lack of resources required to develop a country. Like the money could be spent on education sector to increase the literacy rate but lack of teachers around is still a concern. Same way, expensive medical setups can be bought however not many qualified doctors in the country. Lack literacy in these under developed countries would not be able to generate high employment as the people are not skilled or educated enough to cope up with the advanced technologies.

As a result, I would state handing out money to the countries facing poverty can never be the only solution to get them out their misery. The developed countries, in addition to the financial support, should start volunteer programs from each of the following sector: education, medicine and technology to come up and help these countries to develop own their own. They should offer additional incentives to intrigue the individuals for the noble cause.
