PTE Essay 12

The urbanization of country side has shown tremendously negative impact on the environment-friendly living. People believe it is because of making quick money through construction work while another section holds the opinion that village folk too need to enjoy facilities of a city. What do you think?

There is a growing trend to develop infrastructure in the rural pockets nearby cities. This is done primarily to provide amenities to the natives and to make their lives easier. Simultaneously, it is causing damage to the fragile nature of the beautiful locales under the garb of development. While taking a tour of the countryside, one will notice concrete structures which are only ornamental and have no particular advantage except these filled the coffers of the construction companies.
No one disputes making conveniences available to the village folk, but no one also agrees with the mindless and useless growth that razes green forests, threatening the pristine unpolluted atmosphere. There is a large chunk of population that takes resort in the serene surroundings to forget their day’s stresses and breathe in the freshest air possible. One will find many establishments not meant for any useful purpose for public or for poor, but are only a vulgar display that mock at the idiosyncrasies of modern man.
In fact, there is a wide gap between government policies on urban and rural development and the requirements. Policies, as it appears, are tailor-made only to make quick buck. There are enough areas where the development has not reached the village but got halted near the village only as a monument. The rural brethren do have specific needs of development which should be catered to by the local authorities and the elected representatives to maintain a fine balance between growth and greed.
