PTE Essay 09

There have been many incidents of road rage on account of petty arguments. How do you think can such an issue be tackled? Who should be held responsible – parents or education system or authorities? State your opinion very clearly.

The impatience and arrogance in people find its way out in numerous situations but on the road, it portrays much more danger. Most of the road rage incidents are a result of misunderstandings and failure to follow the rules which ignite irritation for the other people. Some may be as small as a rude gesture while others may result in severe injury and death. I believe that parents should be responsible for these are the individual outbursts of emotions.
Firstly, family needs to ensure that a vehicle shall only be driven if a person knows driving well and understands the traffic regulations which may avoid accidents and disputes. For instance, at certain places, parents tend to let the underage children drive the car without any formal training and license. Also, they should set themselves as role models to handle a situation calmly and finding a solution without picking up a fight because children grow up mimicking their elders.
On the other hand, these issues can be tackled by spreading awareness of the road norms including encouraging institutions and parents for the same. Further, strict procedures for issuing the driving license should be adopted which should also include the psychological test of the driver. Lastly, the punishment of the accused should be heightened to discourage further incidents of the same character.
Concluding, the upbringing and the close-knit social community plays a significant role in the acts of rage on the road due to the normalization of the same in the family. The governmental policies may help in decreasing the number and making the street a safer mode.
