PTE Essay 06

At an alarming rate of population growth in the world, a large number of human resource is without employment while robots are taking over the work from human beings. Do you think this is the right approach?

In this technological era, the robot is the brilliant invention of mankind. In most of the industries, work is carried by these man-made machines, thus resulting in unemployment. In my opinion, no doubt, this technology is beneficial but it has many drawbacks so this is not the right approach.

To begin, if a human is capable of doing a job correctly then there is no benefit in replacing him with a robot. This artificial human being may be able to perform all types of jobs but has certain limitations as well. Its operational and maintenance costs are very high. For example, the cost of installing a robot in a supermarket in the US was one million dollars. The robot needs decades to give services worth its cost. Furthermore, in order to keep these devices function properly, companies need to hire skilled operators, again real humans of course. This will result in increasing their cost of operation and ultimately will affect the consumers. There are certain jobs which require a human touch. Robots cannot perform the desired job in sectors like teaching, social service because of their inability of understanding human feelings, needs and wants. For example, in a classroom, where there are students who need special attention, a robot will not be able to empathize. Ironically, if robots will outpower human beings there will be no more cultures or traditions or civilizations left to advocate and propound.

This is to be concluded that no doubt robots play a significant role in performing the task but at the same time, human beings are required in order to operate those machines.
