Some people think students should study the science of food and how to prepare it. Others think that school time should be used in learning important subjects. Discuss both views and give your opinion?
Some people believe that schools should emphasize on teaching relevant subjects to the students and thus are skeptical about the learning of the science of food and their preparation. Although, I am in complete favor of the food science studies.
As people are more inclined towards their kids being exposed to relevant subjects that can help them out with careers, it is not an invalid thought to begin with. Spending more time in developing skills that make children capable enough to compete with the world is completely logical. With the ever so advancing technologies coming up with each passing day and the cut throat competition around, people with this thought process cannot be blamed. From the students perspective, developing the necessary skills for their careers consumes a lot of time and energy on its own, hardly the time is spared to learn additional subjects.
However, looking after oneself is the most important thing. If schools are willing to teach the subject associated with food science the initiative like such should not be discouraged, as obesity is one of the major concerns nowadays. If food science is being taught as the part of academics this could help the future generation to adopt healthy eating habits, prepare for themselves and to avoid the dire consequences, as obesity is the major cause of heart associated diseases. As children easily get influenced by their teachers it would be a great idea to make them learn the importance of right food at school level only. If a child is aware of food science and how nutritious food would keep their body fit, that would encourage them to choose healthy food habits. Besides, cooking is a necessity and should be taught to everyone. The curriculum should have a subject such as home science where students can be taught how to prepare their own food. It would motivate them to indulge themselves in home cooked food instead of spending money on fast food available in markets.
In conclusion, I would not curse people not opening up to the food science studies but I am on board with such initiatives as it can lead to a healthy future generation.
